SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge links with parkrun


The SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge is making the circle bigger in 2022, partnering withparkru­n South Africa to allow participan­ts to attend physical events, the supermarke­t brand said.

The Virtual Challenge was launched in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing South Africans to participat­e in the event in solidarity during a time of uncertaint­y and strife.

The popular event will return for a third instalment, albeit with fewer restrictio­ns, allowing entrants to come together wherever they are to run, jog, walk, skip or even dance at their own pace, choosing their route and completing their challenge any time between 6am and 6pm.

The partnershi­p with parkrun South Africa provides SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge participan­ts with a safe space to come together as a community on September 3 at any of the 176 venues around the country, the organisers say.

Rregistrat­ion for parkrun is once off, while participan­ts should remember to bring their parkrun barcode to the venue to ensure their results are registered.

Most parkruns in South Africa start at 8am, but each venue may be different, so it is worth checking the website of the specific event for their starting time. the Online SPAR Women entries’are s Virtual open for Challenge 2022. Entry to the challenge is R120 and every participan­t will receive a virtual challenge pack which includes an official t-shirt, access to the My Virtual Challenge digital magazine, a face buff and medal.
