Kei Bodies – made to last
Komani company celebrates its 50th anniversary
Kei Bodies has provided professional, efficient services as well as competitive pricing for its clients for the past 50 years.
From CNC profile cutting to truck and trailer body repairs and manufacture, as well as trailer and crane truck hire, the business offers a wide range of services and quality steelwork.
Kei Bodies specialises in truck and trailer bodies with designs that are made to last.
In partnership with architects from Pencil to Post Designs, the business provides a one-stop design and manufacture service.
Using 3D software, Kei Bodies is able to assist clients in visualising their structure or steel works installations.
Kei Bodies also offers a parts store for all steelwork requirements.
It all dates back to 1973 when Matie Scheepers bought into the business after its establishment in 1972 in Komani, with Pierre Scheepers taking over the reins in 1994.
After Pierre Scheepers’ tragic death in 2018 in a plane crash, Julian Thompson bought Kei Bodies in 2021, but sadly passed on the same year.
In August 2021, the Van der Walt family took the company under their wing and
continue to run it with the help of key personnel. Having undergone multiple ownership changes since Pierre Scheepers’ passing, the business faced challenges with many uncertainties.
Despite this, the company still strives in making available an essential service in the heart of the Eastern Cape.
The business, situated at 25 Factory Road, employs 26 people.
Today, Andre Scheepers, Pierre’s brother, is continuing the family legacy in the steelworks industry of this region as the company’s workshop manager.
Kei Bodies is truly a proudly local business which is here to stay.
The company’s 50th anniversary is also a proud achievement.
Kei Bodies would like to thank all their customers for their loyal support and wish them a joyous and safe festive season.
