- Sive Buhe Assurance Test Analyst

Q A: What do you do for a living?

: I am a quality assurance test analyst. I test software before it is deployed to be used by the public.

I enjoy having a say and input in the quality of what is taking over the world currently, which is technology.

Q: What is the most important thing you have learnt in your career?

A: To always ask questions. It is better to ask and have something clarified than to sit with a problem for weeks trying to figure it out yourself.

Asking questions saves you time and energy you can use in perfecting whatever task you are faced with.

Q: What quality assurance testing have you done?

A: I have only done quality assurance as an employee at two companies. I worked for

Batsamayi in Gqeberha and was responsible for testing the functioning and quality for four Lexis Nexis products.

Currently, I work for Takealot.com and my team is responsible for the logistic division of the Takealot app.

This means I test the parts of the app that facilitate delivery to different areas in SA.

Q: How would you rate the demand for quality assurance analysts?

A: The demand is pretty high, as high as that for computer literate people as well as software developers. These disciplines go hand-in-hand.

Our country and world are evolving in line with the fourth industrial revolution.

More and more companies are leaning towards basing their processes on technology which needs to be tested for safety as well as quality.

Q: What does success mean to you?

A: Success for me is being confident in the value I bring in every situation I am in. I am only as successful as my contribution to my circles.

Q: How do you relax?

A: I am a music lover. When I need to unwind, I play my favourite jams. Second, selfcare, a hot bubble bath and body scrub go a long way.

Q: A quote to live by?

A: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. ”– The Alchemist, by Paul Coelho.

This quote reminds me to always go for it. The only thing that will ever be in my way is myself.

Q: The best gift you have ever received?

A: My mother always made sure she snuck a “good luck for exams” card in my bag in primary school. I still hold those close to my heart.

Q: A must-read book?

A: The Alchemist. It is a fairly thin book but carries so many messages for people who are on self-discovery journeys.

Q: What do you enjoy when you are not working?

A: I enjoy being indoors. My job keeps me indoors in front of a laptop. My favourite activity is a simple ice cream date alone or with a friend.
