The nation is observing 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. The Rep intern ask residents their views and whether they think GBV cases have increased or not.

Abigayle Combrinck from Komani

I feel like GBV is always on the rise. It is never going down. Maybe it is because abusers do not always get caught and people never change.

As long as people do not change, abuse will always be there.

Asiphe Mbandezi from Dlakavu

GBV has increased immensely and the sad part is we are being failed by the SA Police Service and justice system, which gives perpetrators bail in less than 48 hours.

Above all, people who abuse children should be given very harsh sentences.

They should not be in our communities.

Sinoxolo Mcanda from Narfield

I see a lot of incidents in our communities, even in the country as a whole.

It is so sad to watch a woman being abused like that.

I just wish the law and the justice system can start taking these things seriously.

Sihle Ncaphayi

from Queensview Park A week does not end without seeing a GBV case on the news.

We do not only see it on TV but in our communities as well. I just hope it will all come to an end.

Asemahle Tabata from Sada

I see no chances of it going down. I feel like the justice system is not serving us right, it is failing our people. I just pray that one day it comes to an end and just stops.
