NPO thrilled with new mobile kitchen
Hands of Compassion wins Twizza competition
The winner of Faka iFlava, Naeema Khan who runs a nonprofit organisation called Hands of Compassion, received her mobile soup kitchen as part of her winnings.
Khan runs a soup kitchen which feeds 150-200 children and adults in Dordrecht.
Recently, Twizza delivered the mobile soup kitchen to Khan in her home in Munniksville, Dordrecht.
Khan said Twizza had a competition to nominate someone from the community who does well.
“I nominated myself and also asked for help with gas bottles and a stove. I then received a Facebook message informing me that I had won.”
She said Twizza went to assess what she does and that was when they saw that she is in need of a mobile soup kitchen as she was cooking in a small room inside her house with a two-plate small gas stove.
Khan said: “The delivery made me feel overwhelmed, excited, blessed and all of that is made possible by Twizza. It’s easier now because there is space to cook and serve the children.
“The gas stove and bottle is a huge blessing as I can now cook without having to worry about electricity or wood.”
Twizza marketing associate Lisa-Mari Burton said: “This is the motivation behind their Faka iFlava campaign: this year Twizza celebrated 20 years of serving the SA community and what a better way to celebrate than with those exact communities that support them, honouring their commitment in giving back to Mzansi.”
Burton added that Twizza feels it is their responsibility to give back to the communities.
She said Twizza believed that every contribution has the ability to leave an impact.
“What may seem insignificant to some can be life-changing for others. Twizza envisions a collective effort where every business plays a part in giving back to make a positive difference and actively contribute to alleviating poverty in our land,” she said.
Burton said: “To effectively address the needs of Khan and her community, Twizza has provided a fully customised a mobile kitchen trailer. The trailer is equipped with a three-gas burner, a 19kg gas cylinder, and shelving designed to accommodate the industrial pots she utilises for cooking.
“This solution not only resolves the space constraints in her rental home but also provides her with a personal gas stove for her and her community’s use,” Burton said.
