The Rep

FACE 2 with

- / Busi Hoho Communications

What does your job entail?

My main focus as communications officer for the National Film and Video Foundation is to promote SA’s film industry, on various platforms. My job includes internal and external communications.

What do you like about what you do?

I like that I get to promote local films, attend local film festivals, and watch South African and international films.

I also enjoy interacting with different media, organising interviews, designing posters, and writing press releases, being the pulse of the organisation’s communications “machinery”.

What impact do you want to make in your job space?

I want to influence how the organisation communicates and grow the visibility of the brand, as well as strengthen and simplify communications.

What do you look forward to this year?

I am looking forward to all the life lessons and growth opportunities the Lord will bring my way.

What societal issue do you feel does not get enough attention?

There are so many, but I will pick one, and that is voter education.

We are in an election year, and many people don’t know enough about the voting process and how powerful their voices are. I am narrowing this broad issue, but arming the electorate with information ensures that we all make informed decisions about why we vote, what kind of elections we will have this year, what the significance of these elections is, and so on.

What would you like to see more of in The Rep newspaper?

Coverage of activities (academic and otherwise) in rural schools around Komani.

What do you enjoy reading?

I enjoy reading the Bible, autobiographies, and “how-to” books. I enjoyed reading Thabo Mbeki (unauthorised autobiography), and I recently read Spare, a memoir by Prince Harry.

What are your interests?

My interests include music, reading and writing, sports and DIY projects. I now have a growing avocado tree, I’m fixing sliding doors, and putting up gutters around the house.
