Call 0800-11-9031 and help save three lives over Easter says SANBS

- REP REPORTER

Save a life by giving 30 minutes of your life on Saturday to the SA National Blood Service (SANBS).

That’s how long it will take to donate a little blood as part of the service’s pioneering #WeAreThePulse campaign launched this year.

Join the unique Easter Blood Donation Drive on Saturday, March 30, and throughout the long weekend.

The more donations, the more lives will be saved, said the service.

You have to be aged between 16 and 74, weigh more than 50kg, and be healthy.

Becoming an enlightened, motivated, community-minded person earns you membership of the community of #LifeSavers.

Your single donation is able to save up to three people, the service said. SANBS spokesperson Thandi Mosupye said: “As we approach the Easter holidays, we ask South Africans to join hands and donate blood, as blood donations often decrease due to school and work closures over the long weekend.

“Yet, the need for blood remains constant.

“It’s been incredibly inspiring to witness the unity and spirit of generosity that the #WeAreThePulse campaign has already sparked. People from all walks of life have come together, driven by a shared purpose: to save lives. From students to professionals, each donor has demonstrated the remarkable impact that one act of kindness can have.”

Donation sites will open on Saturday onwards but not on Good Friday.

“Please give the gift of life by visiting their nearest blood donation site,” the service stated in a release.
