MISS IN­DIA SA COM­PETES IN WORLD PAGEANT

BEST of luck to Joburg lass Shivani Goven­der, who leaves for Mum­bai, In­dia, at the end of month to rep­re­sent South Africa in a pres­ti­gious pageant.

The 22-year-old Miss In­dia South Africa will com­pete against young women from 47 other coun­tries in the Miss In­dia World­wide pageant.

Goven­der works as a grad­u­ate busi­ness an­a­lyst for a bank, hav­ing ob­tained an hon­ours de­gree in chem­i­cal en­gi­neer­ing from Wits.

She also runs an In­dian dance school in Al­ber­ton, called De­siMo­tion, mod­els oc­ca­sion­ally and says her hob­bies are go­ing to the gym and buy­ing shoes, of which she has over 300 pairs.

Dur­ing her reign, she has been kept busy on phil­an­thropic and cul­tural projects. “Hold­ing the ti­tle of Miss In­dia South Africa is an hon­our and has given me op­por­tu­ni­ties to touch the lives and hearts of oth­ers,” she says.

She has given mo­ti­va­tional talks, at­tended media launches for var­i­ous events, mod­elled for fash­ion shows, per­formed at cul­tural events and fundrais­ers, and done char­ity work.

Goven­der says she has a party of 10 ac­com­pa­ny­ing her to In­dia.

“Rep­re­sent­ing South Africa is a priv­i­lege, but a huge re­spon­si­bil­ity. I am look­ing for­ward to boast­ing of all the amaz­ing at­tributes of our di­verse and colour­ful cul­ture.” – Lifestyle Re­porter
