Drop in Fidesz support
BUDAPEST: Voter support for Hungary’s ruling right-wing Fidesz party dropped to 29% in February from 32% in January but it was still the favourite to win elections on April 8, a poll by the Republikon institute showed yesterday.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz is seeking a third consecutive term in parliamentary elections, campaigning with a fierce antiimmigrant message.
The poll published by website 24.hu, Republikon also showed nationalist opposition party Jobbik gained one percentage point to 12%.
Another poll by Zavech Research also showed a slight drop in Fidesz support in February.
