-

SOME rarely auctioned furniture and embellishments – including a celebrated 1930s grand piano – will be part of the offering at Bernardi’s Decorators’ and Collectors’ auction in Pretoria at 10am tomorrow.

The 1930s Blüthner walnut-cased boudoir grand piano with stool was produced by Julius Blüthner Pianofortefabrik, a famous piano-manufacturing company based in Leipzig in Germany, and regarded as one of the “big four” piano manufacturers globally.

First produced in 1853, several immortal composers and musicians have owned Blüthner pianos including Brahms, Mahler, Debussy, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

Collectables will also be on offer at the sale. Viewing opens today from 10am to 5pm. The venue is Bernardi’s, 65 Thomson Street, Colbyn.
