SUPER EAGLES LOSE IGHALO

- | ANA

ODION Ighalo has been in red-hot scoring form for Nigeria and tops the goalscoring charts in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but will miss the match against South Africa due to a hamstring injury.

In the Afcon qualifiers, he has contributed immensely to the Super Eagles topping Group E with nine points, one above South Africa, having netted six of their 10 goals.

Ighalo is expected to be out for around a month after he was injured in Changchun Yatai’s 2-2 Chinese league draw with Tianjin Quanjian on Wednesday.

“I pulled my hamstring,” the 29-yearold Ighalo said. “I am going to out for four to five weeks. I sustained it in our home game (on Wednesday). Sad that I won’t play against South Africa in our qualifier next weekend, I was already looking forward to the match, but God knows best. But I believe in the team to beat South Africa in their backyard. I’ll be supporting them all the way,” he added.
