Singer names album after his daughter

-

LOS ANGELES: Chris Brown has not been shy about his love for his baby daughter, and now that love is inspiring an album.

The 26-year-old singer announced shortly after midnight on Saturday that he would name his upcoming record after his one-year-old daughter, Royalty.

In a simple statement made on Twitter, he wrote: “MY NEW ALBUM WILL BE NAMED ‘ROYALTY’.”

Little else has been made public about Chris’s upcoming seventh studio album, although its first single, Liquor, was released on June 24.

Although the album does not have an official release date, it is expected to be at some point in the US autumn.

On his One Hell of a Nite Tour, Chris has regularly posted to Instagram about his love for Royalty, his child with Nia Guzman, 31.

Last week, Chris dedicated a “woman-crush Wednesday” post to his little girl: “WCW (every day)! The only one who will give me unconditional love and will teach me how to become a man.” The message accompanied two photos of Royalty.

Chris’s affection for his daughter has been complicated by an ongoing custody dispute between Chris and Nia, who conceived Royalty during a fling.

Last month, it was reported that Nia had requested $15 000 (R195 000) a month in child support.

Chris had, meanwhile, been paying Nia $2 500 a month but refused to pay in July after Royalty was sent to his mother Joyce when he was supposed to visit.

“Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers.

“I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets,” Chris ranted on social media early this month.

“Using a child as leverage is never okay. The highest praise to the men who actually want their kids.”

The R&B singer’s angry messages also followed reports that he would be countering Nia’s efforts to gain full custody over their child.

Nia had reportedly petitioned to deny Chris unsupervised visits with Royalty, believing that he is too irresponsible to take care of their child.

The singer is trying to establish paternity legally to be able to fight Nia in court and get them to agree on a sum similar to what he has been paying.

Chris has seemingly embraced fatherhood and men- tioned Royalty in an acceptance speech at the BET Awards on June 28.

“A lot has changed in my life. A lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned. Best thing I’m most thankful for is my daughter,” Chris said at the Microsoft Theater.

It was publicly confirmed that he was Royalty’s father with an Instagram post in April – his then girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, broke up with the singer because of it. – Daily Mail
