Deadly helicopter crash probed

THE CIVIL Aviation Authority of SA has launched an investigat­ion into a helicopter crash that claimed two lives in Limpopo, police said yesterday. Spokeswoma­n Colonel Ronel Otto said the pilot, David Boul, died along with passenger Ronald Matsunga when the helicopter hit an electric pole and burst into flames on Tuesday. “Another passenger, Phineas Sekwela, either fell or jumped from the helicopter before it crashed and was injured when he hit the electric cables,” Otto said. He was transferre­d to hospital. The helicopter experience­d mechanical failure and crashed during the installati­on of antennas along the mountain range. – ANA
