Four perish in KZN crashes


THREE people were killed and three critically injured in a head-on collision in Durban yesterday morning. Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the accident happened on the M4 in La Mercy, about 35km north of the city centre. Firefighte­rs used the Jaws of Life to free the injured who were trapped in the wreckage, some of which was spread over a wide area. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Police were investigat­ing and trying to determine the cause of the accident. A man died and two others were injured when their vehicle left the road and rolled on the N11, 20km outside Ladysmith in KwaZuluNat­al, yesterday morning. ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said the car was lying on its roof off on the side of the road. – ANA
