Unhappy Gorowa set to leave Swallows

- MOHAU RAMASHIDJA

MOROKA Swallows could be without a coach by the end of today if talks between the club’s management and their current coach, Ian Gorowa, pictured, don’t go according to plan.

This comes after the Dube Birds head coach witnessed his side suffer a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Milano United over the weekend.

It was their eighth defeat of this season.

Swallows are now bottom of the National First Division (NFD) log with 11 points after 15 matches.

Gorowa has not been shy to admit that the reason why his side has not been performing is due to the fact that some of his players have not been paid on a regular basis by the club.

“That’s one of the contributing factors which have led to my decision to leave the club,” Gorowa said. “Players are not treated fairly by management and how can you expect positive outcomes on the field with this hanging over them? It’s frustrating for the boys. I myself am also frustrated. My heart sank after that 5-0 defeat.

“That’s why I have decided to part ways with the club. The decision, however, is not finalised yet. I still have to meet with management to finalise matters.

“I’ve been helping out here at the club for quite a while now but things cannot continue like this,” he added. “It’s now up to management to sort this mess out, otherwise I’m out.

“I’ll have my final meeting with Sipho Xulu (Swallows’ general manger) today to hear what he has to say regarding this matter. And if we cannot come to an agreement, then this will be my final day at Swallows.”

Xulu could not be reached for a comment.
