Hotstix in star-studded Soweto show
THE ORGANISERS of the Toyota PresentsDRUMBeat have promised an exciting concert tomorrow featuring a star-studded line-up that include legendary artist Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse.
The concert, which has been organised in partnership with Mzansi Magic and Hilltop Live, will be held at the Soweto Theatre.
It will feature artists such as 2015 Idols winner Karabo Mogane; Nathi Mankayi, best known for his hit song Nomvula; Mi Casa; Kwesta; pastor and gospel legend Solly Mahlangu; house DJ Mobi Dixon; Motstswako’s female queen Fifi Cooper; as well as rapper Nasty_C.
The drawcard will no doubt be Mabuse, whose music history spanning four decades has earned him international recognition.
We last heard of Mabuse, when he mediated a social media outrage between Ntsiki Mazwai and Simphiwe Dana.
But his efforts to settle the Twitter war was met with no appreciation from Mazwai. She questioned why 66-yearold Mabuse would get involved in tabloid gossip, unless he was seeking attention.
House music group Mi Casa will be making a return to the drumbeat stage, following their 2015 performance.
The DRUMBeat concert will consist of two stages to showcase jazz, hip-hop, house and pop.
The 2015 rendition of this annual concert showcased jazz, hip-hop and Afro-soul music and artists.
Pre-sold tickets are available at Computicket for R150. Gates open at 2pm.
