Kadjar gets R40 000 worth of free stuff

- DENIS DROPPA

RENAULT South Africa has introduced a limited-edition Kadjar variant with R40 000 worth of free accessories.

Called the Kadjar XP, it’s based on the Kadjar 1.2T Expression crossover but gets a raft of extras all for the same R364 900 pricetag. These comprise 17” alloys (the standard car wears 16” steel wheels), a swan neck tow bar, side steps, roof racks, and cornering fog lights that provide better visibility by illuminating on the side to which the steering is turned.

This is in addition to the Expression’s fairly comprehensive gadget list which entails LED daytime running lights, cruise control with a speed limiter, a colour digital dashboard, electric windows, aircon, and a CD/radio audio system with steering wheel controls and connectivity via Bluetooth and USB/ Aux.

The Kadjar’s well-stacked safety kit includes front, side and curtain airbags; stability control; hill start assist; and ABS brakes – it comes with a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating.

Mechanically the limited-edition version’s identical to the Kadjar Expression with drive supplied by the 1.2-litre turbopetrol that was introduced to the imported range in April 2016.

With 96kW of power and 205Nm of torque, it feeds the front wheels through a six speed manual gearbox, while a fuel-saving stop-start system comes standard to help it achieve a claimed 5.7 litres per 100km.

Although it’s not an all wheel drive, a 200mm ground clearance gives the Kadjar some gravel road ability.

It’s sold with Renault’s standard 5-year/150 000km warranty and 5-year/90 000km service plan.

Sales commence straight away and numbers are limited so hurry to get yours.
