Residents urged to help development

-

THE CITY of Joburg’s department of development planning is calling on Auckland Park residents to participate in engagement sessions for the fast-tracking of the development of the corridors of freedom which has now reached the implementation stage.

The city is in the process of establishing special development zones to speed up development applications within the Louis Botha Avenue and Empire/Perth development corridors.

The aim of the corridors is to revitalise established, old areas of the city.

The introduction of new high-density housing, more special amenities and business opportunities – all linked to public transport – are expected to inject new life into these areas.

The following three neighbourhoods, each located along current and future BRT routes, and in close proximity to Joburg CBD, have been identified for piloting the mechanism:

Members of the public last week attended presentations for the Orange Grove area.
