Another delicious first in store for Sowetans

SOWETANS are getting plenty of delicious treats this year.

While many are still on a high from the inaugural Soweto Kota Festival in September, another first is coming to tantalise their taste buds.

The inaugural Soweto Food and Wine Experience takes place on Saturday.

Not to be confused with the three-day Soweto Wine Festival, the upcoming event will be a more intimate affair and organiser Sidwell Tshingilane is hoping it is as big a success as the Kota festival.

Saturday’s event will take place at the White City Lounge in Jabavu over four hours and guests will be taken on a journey of food and wine pairings.

“Visitors can expect an education about food and wine pairings.

“This is an evening/dinner occasion starting at 5pm. We expect at least 200 guests.

“This is a perfect event for those who are celebrating their anniversary or even birthday.

“The evening will start with welcome drinks then starters. A main course and a delicious dessert will follow.

“All the food will be paired with fine wine,” Tshingilane said.

He added the event would be exclusive and each guest would be made to feel like a VIP.

“We will also have live performances and a great DJ on the night.”

On the day, special prizes will be given to the best-dressed couple as well as the bestdressed male and female.

“We are celebrating food, wine and style in Soweto. It’s going to be a night to remember.”

Tickets to the event are R750 per couple and R450 per person.
