Schoolboys drown in river

TWO boys drowned while swimming in the Mohlaletse River in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo police said yesterday. Spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the two were part of a group of children who went swimming in the river on Sunday. “Two of them got stuck in deep water and drowned. One of the boys in the group ran to the village to get help. Community members jumped in and retrieved the bodies,” he said. Police and emergency services reacted swiftly,” Ngoepe added. The boys, aged 11, were identified as Tukelo Mahlanya and Moruthanyana Mahlanya. An inquest has been opened.
