Models of all sizes to showcase range in NY
NANDI Madida will showcase her clothing line in New York next month.
The singer, who just hosted the inaugural Afropunk event in Joburg, made the announcement on social media, saying: “It gives me so much joy to announce that I have been invited to showcase my readyto-wear clothing line Colour, and participate at New York Fashion Week, Oxford Fashion Studio next month…”
The mom-of-one said she was honoured by the invitation and was excited to be going global.
“We’re building and starting very small globally, but I’m so honoured and excited to represent my continent and looking forward to building the Colour brand globally and reach new heights doing massive solo shows in the future with my talented design team.”
Launched in 2016, her clothing line was well received at African Fashion International Fashion Week at the end of last year.
Madida’s label has already gone global, with her walking the red carpet in one of the designs at the BET awards.
On her inspiration behind the design collection, Madida said she wanted to show the rich colours and cultures of Africa.
Late last year she launched a social media search for models of all sizes to represent her brand.
“My Colour Models are beautiful! Can’t wait to see my Petite, Plus Size and Medium size models look like! Pure heat! 2018 are (you) ready?”, she said in a Twitter post after receiving countless images sent to her

Madida is still selecting the winners, who will take part in a photoshoot where they will model the range.
“Here’s to writing a new narrative for African luxury fashion,” said Madida on her New York Fashion Week collection showcase.
