‘Bid to disrupt talks’

DAKAR: A weekend attack that left 13 dead was the work of people trying to disrupt peace talks in a restive Senagelese region, said President Macky Sall yesterday, ordering security services “to track the assailants and bring them to justice”.

The attack on Saturday saw a group of people armed with automatic rifles kill 13 and injure seven in the southern region of Casamance, where some separatist­s have fought for independen­ce since 1982. No group has claimed responsibi­lity for the attack. – dpa
