Conservati­ves ‘open’

BERLIN: The leader of Germany’s Christian Social Union, Horst Seehofer, said at the start of explorator­y talks to form a new government that his party is entering negotiatio­ns open, without rigid conditions.

“We need to come to an agreement,” Seehofer said. However, he added: “We won’t besmirch our profile.”

The leader of the archconser­vative party said he was going to try “to bring things to a good end” in the talks. – dpa
