Property valuation objections extended

JOBURG residents have until April 6 to object to their valuations.

Some social media messages are claiming that objections closed on February 28.

Hundreds of residents have complained bitterly about the huge increases in their property values – up to 1000% – which will result in an increase in their monthly rates payments.

City spokespers­on Kgamanyane Maphologel­a said there were two ways customers can object to values on the 2018 general valuation roll – by viewing their properties on the roll at the 12 centres and by logging online on www.joburg.org.za

At the centres, owners who do not have the internet, or are unable to use the system, will be assisted in completing their objections online.

Maphologel­a said it was compulsory for the objections to be captured online for the system to generate the official acknowledg­ement letter. The 12 centres are: City Power. The Vision Boardroom, 40 Heronmere Road, Booysens and the following customer service centres:

Ennerdale – corner Katz and Smith Walk roads, Ennerdale Ext 9.

Lenasia Civic Centre – corner Rose Avenue and Eland Street, Lenasia.

Eldorado Park – 4046 Link Crescent Avenue, Eldorado Park Ext 5.

Orlando East – 1425A Sofasonke Street, Orlando East, Soweto.

Protea North – 229/49 Kunene Street, Protea North

Roodepoort – 1st floor, 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida.

Randburg Civic Centre – corner Bram Fischer Drive and Jan Smuts Avenue, Randburg.

Sandton Customer Service Centre, 137 Daisy Street, Sandton.

Midrand – 300 15th Road, Midrand.

Thuso House – 61 Jorissen Street, Braamfonte­in.

Jabulani – 1 Koma Road, Jabulani.
