Pupils remove sewage in wheelbarrows
IT WAS not a walk in the park when Codesa took place at Kempton Park in 1991. After the pain and suffering of a black man in South Africa, a final Constitution was drafted and assented to by the late ex-president Nelson Mandela in 1996. Amongst its provisions is the Bill of Rights which seeks to promote, protect and restore human dignity of all.
Fast-track to 2019, black school children at Mohlope Primary School in Mphethi Village outside Burgersfort, Limpopo are forced to push wheelbarrows carrying human waste. When the headmaster was approached by concerned parents he claimed “angazi” (I don’t know about this issue). To add insult to injury, other parents see no wrong in the school instruction.
