IT IS THAT time of the year when music lovers can look forward to the exciting #Jositesefestival 2019.

The music extravaganza takes place on November 30 at Ruimsig Stadium, West Rand.

The gender-based violence theme is made to encourage men to support the fight to protect women in South Africa.

Co-founder of the event, Tshepo Riba, said they want to encourage male participation in the fight.

“We want to include boys to say ‘not in my name’,” Riba said.

Musician Nomzamo Dlamini, who is affectionately known as Zamo, will be among the eight different artists to grace the stage.

Dlamini is making her second appearance at the festival, and said she was looking forward to dishing out another mouthwatering performance.

“Last year, Jozi Tese was buzzing. The atmosphere was amazing, and I know for sure this year it is going to be even better,” Dlamini said.

The Afro-soul singer said she has been in the entertainment industry for 15 years and has released two albums – one in 2010 and another last year.

She says she is inspired by knowing how much power musicians carry.

“We are instruments. Voices of the voiceless,” Dlamini said.

The former singer of the renowned gospel ensemble Joyous Celebrations said it brings peace to people when musicians write a song about what someone is going through.

What kept her going, Dlamini added, was knowing that it was not about her but the people she impacted through her music.

“I never want to compromise myself,” she said.

She says she involves herself on platforms where she can encourage young people not to seek short cuts to make it.

“You can make a living without having to sleep with someone,” she said.

Dlamini said fans can look forward to songs like The Seed, Game Changer and a couple of other hits from her albums.

Mafikizolo, Sho Madjozi, Simmy are also in the line-up of musicians to grace the festival.

Tickets are available on Webtickets and Pick n Pay stores.
