- MPILETSO MOTUMI

FANS of the legendary Toni Braxton came out in full force for the musician to support her As Long As I Live tour.

The 52-year-old is in the country on a two-city tour and will next perform in Cape Town.

The TicketPro Dome became a 1990s party as fans sang each song, lyric by lyric, on Saturday night.

It was the perfect date night for many as couples came dressed in matching tops and outfits.

Mother-and-daughter duos attended, also in matched outfits, the concert and friends made it the ultimate girls’ night out.

Shekhinah were the opening act for the night before Braxton took the fans on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with all the fan favourites, including And I Love You, I Wish, Unbreak My Heart, Another Sad Love Song, Love Should Have Brought You Home and He Wasn’t Man Enough.

Fans can never get enough of their all-time favourite artists and the packed Dome was proof of this. South Africa has been in a state of euphoria since the Springboks won the Rugby World Cup. The KFC proposal went viral and sent the country into even more excitement. Another proposal added to the romance at the Toni Braxton concert when a man from Durban proposed to his girlfriend on stage.

Yet another surprise was in store for Braxton as she was honoured with two plaques for her work. One was from Sony Music for the streaming and radio downloads of her music and the other from Universal Music for the success of her As Long As I Live song. In true fashion, she invited some of her die-hard fans on stage to sing with her.

Braxton will next perform in Cape Town at the Grand West Arena tomorrow.
