Stung by Honeybee driving school’s excuses

- THANDOKAZI SHELENI

I AM writing to you finding myself in a situation of being robbed by Honeybee driving school.

I paid an amount of R4 650.00 for a 20-lesson package and car hire for the test. I was met at home by a guy called Mahomed on December 21 to give me a lesson.

He was late, so he just did an introduction where we set all the dates that I would do my driving lessons.

The introduction took about 10 – 20 minutes, and he advised me that an instructor will meet me on my next appointment, which was on Monday, December 23 at 6pm after I come back from work.

6pm passed, and no one came. I then called Mahomed to find out where the instructor was, he said he was in a meeting, and would come afterwards, implying that he was the one that was going to meet me.

I called him again. He said he would be at my house in an hour’s time. I said it was fine, I will wait for him. He then sent me a message saying it would be too dark when he gets to my house, we should meet the next lesson.

I then got suspicious and checked the reviews. To my surprise, many people were scammed by this driving school. So I believe that I am also scammed.

Can you please help me get my money back.

Georgie: I’ve received numerous complaints about this Cape Town driving school. The traffic department said it was helpless to stop them – complainants must go to the police to open cases of fraud against them. I don’t believe all customers are scammed, but if you can’t get an appointment, that’s not a good sign. Steer clear of this “school” – far too many issues and unhappy clients.
