Plan to make Sandton Central a place for everyone to enjoy

-

SANDTON Central has launched its first public awareness drive.

The initiative, which involves businesses and residents of Sandton, recently revealed a new logo and brand, which represents the strength, movement, heart and energy of South Africa’s financial capital.

Sandton Central Management District (SCMD) manages the public urban spaces of Sandton Central, which is home to three business improvement districts. Commercial property owners are the driving force behind these improvement initiatives, to ensure an exceptional experience of this economic powerhouse in fast-paced Johannesburg.

The SCMD city improvement manager, Elaine Jack, says: “We are all about a well-managed central financial district. While this means working for a clean, safe, smooth-running precinct, our purpose is crafting a place for everyone to enjoy, whether they live, work, play or visit here.

“This was the first in a series of public awareness drives that we have planned,” adds Jack.

Sandton Central also has a team of 50 public safety ambassadors who operate in the precinct day and night, as well as 19 cleaning and maintenance staff operating on weekdays.

Easily identifiable, these “men in red”, as they are fondly known because of their red uniforms, are on the frontline of its safety, cleanliness, maintenance and landscaping programme.

And, as one of South Africa’s top-visited tourist destinations, its 12 multilingual tourism ambassadors are based outside the Sandton Gautrain station. From the new Sandton Central tourist kiosk, this team gives visitors a warm, friendly welcome, and also offers assistance at key tourism sites in the area.

The tourism ambassadors are also trained in public safety.
