WILL SMITH DENIES AFFAIR ‘BLESSING’
August Alsina insists he’s speaking out because he has to, the Smiths say he’s telling pork pies
WILL Smith has reportedly denied the claims made by singer August Alsina that he gave him his blessing to have a years-long love affair with his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Sun in Britain reports that Smith’s representative branded the reports as “wrong”, while a spokesperson for Pinkett Smith told celebrity news site Page Six, the claims were “absolutely not true”.
August, 27, told radio show
The Breakfast Club that he was in love with Pinkett Smith, 48, and said: “I sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership… he gave me his blessing.”
Jada’s son Jaden, 21, reportedly introduced her to August in 2015.
August said the two became very close, and holidayed together with the family in Hawaii a year later and they even attended the 2017 BET Awards together.
“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life.
“I devoted myself to it, to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody. And I really loved a person, I experienced that and I know what that feels like, and some people never get that in this lifetime.
“I know that I am completely blessed and this conversation is difficult because it is so much that it would be hard for people to understand, but once it starts to affect me and my livelihood, I have to speak up about my truth.”
Jada has been married to Will since 1997, they are parents to Jaden and daughter Willow, 19. Will has a son Trey, 27, from his marriage to Sheree Zampino, 53.
August is currently promoting his new album The Product III:stateofEMERGEncy, and has a new YouTube documentary StateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsina.
He previously denied an affair had taken place in last year after his track Nunya was released.
Rumours were sparked by the lyrics: “You got me feeling like it was an act, you’re just an actress / Putting on a show ’cause you don’t want the world to know.”
The singer said he was not speaking out to cause trouble.
“Contrary to what people may believe, I am not a troublemaker. I don’t like drama.
“And I also don’t think that it is ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date … but in this instance it is very different because, as I said, there are so many people that are side-eyeing me, looking at me questionable.
“I have lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it is because people don’t necessarily know the truth. But I have never done anything wrong.
“I love those people (the Smiths) literally like my family. I don’t have a bad thing to say about them. They are beautiful people.”
Jada has previously denied rumours that she and Will are in an open relationship and said they will never divorce.
In an interview in 2018 she said: “Here’s the thing about Will and I – (we) are family. That is never going down. It’s just not. Ever.
“Take out all that whole marriage/relationship c***, at the end of the day, Will and I are family. At the end of the day, that is a man that can rely on me for the rest of his life.”
In a Facebook post she said: “Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a GROWN one. (sic)”
Will has previously said he and Jada no longer use term married but refer to each other as “life partners”.
“There’s no deal breakers,” he said.
“There’s nothing she could do that would break our relationship. She has my support ‘til death, and it feels so good to get to that space.”
The couple has also previously denied they are swingers.
“I’m like, ‘Yo, I wish. I wish!’,” Jada told Andy Cohen in 2017 of the persistent rumours.
Yet they have remained open about their sex lives, often sharing intimate details.
At the premiere of his movie Focus, Will let slip that Jada loves to watch his sex scenes.
“She’s a little freaky like that.” “Unfortunately, he’s right,” Jada admitted.
“It’s kind of a nice voyeuristic way to see your man, but I am kind of weird in that way. That’s a whole other conversation.”
In 2010, Jada told Oprah Winfrey that spontaneity is key to their relationship.
“Keep it spontaneous. I surprise him. He’s a thinker,” she said.
“He’s always thinking. I just, I always surprise him.”
In another interview she said: “Will and I really wanted to dissolve the myths that surround partnerships that are in the public eye, as if they’re easy.
“Those partnerships are going through the exact kind of difficulties everyone else is going through.”
