Travel dreams up in smoke

- SEAN WRIGHT

to take control of the booking and they informed me that the booking had been cancelled and that they had never received a deposit.

Over the past month I have made contact with many people who had booked and paid in full through Travel Dreams and have lost their money.

The directors from Travel Dreams clearly used Covid-19 to scam and rob their clients and I think South Africa deserves to know what has happened.

Thomas van Zyl from Mazars responds: “Please note that I have now received the appointment as joint provisional liquidator from the Masters Office in the following companies: Travel Dreams and Dream Sports Travel. Regarding the substantial amount of email I have received, I would like to answer some of your questions and further comment as follows:

“There will be no refunds made to any creditors or clients; clients who have taken insurance must submit a claim thereto; the joint liquidators will now begin the process of collecting as many refunds as possible, and have them paid into the above companies.

“Once we receive the refunds, we will then prepare an account and pay a dividend to creditors; and the requisition document that you have all sent through assisted us in compiling a creditors’ list, however it must be noted that the document does not constitute a claim.

“Claim forms will be sent out in due course together with contact details of our claims lady. I understand that this process is unfortunate and somewhat difficult; however it cannot be avoided now that the companies are in liquidation.”
