Divine help needed in hell hole Brakpan

- PETER BACHTIS

DRIVING towards Brakpan from Benoni is an experience. The noxious smells of the garbage dump permeate the air as they filter into the air vents of my motor car, putrid and toxic.

A hundred metres further up is the frightening site of “Plastic City”, allowed to emerge by a council who have no clue of the term “town planning”. The hell hole has no infrastructure, no running water, no electricity and no roads. There was a recent fire which was a result of the flouting of by-laws, yet thousands are living there.

A recently redesigned circle looks shabby, overgrown with weeds with the rubbish from the dump and Plastic City strewn all in it – this the “showpiece” entrance into Brakpan.

The diabolical state of Brakpan requires divine intervention, as the humans who run that council are clearly inept and out of their depth.

“Forgive them father, for they know not what they do”, so please help.
