Full steam ahead for collectables sale
OLD JOHANNESBURG Warehouse Auctioneers’s Joburg branch is holding a massive three-day online auction starting today with the sale of the train memorabilia collection of Martin Vermaak. Tomorrow and Sunday will see a 1000-lot sale of collectables, art, jewellery, watches, furniture, coins, silver and more.

Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers’s new branch in Paarl will hold its first online auction on Saturday, March 6, starting at 9am.
The line-up of more than 500 lots comprises furniture (Africana, Continental, French, Dutch, mid-century and more); Jorge Jensen silver tea sets and stainless-steel cutlery; Danish decor and crockery; gold coins; jewellery; watches and other collectables. Among the highlights is a large continental 19th-century walnut sideboard carved with mythical figures, masks and scrolling foliage
South African art by the likes of Francois Krige, Peter Clarke, Strat Caldecott, Gregoire Boonzaier, Catherine Paynter, Norman Catherine, Jean Welz and Alfred Krenz will be on offer.
The items can be viewed on Thursday and Friday, from 9am to 4pm at the auction house’s premises at The Toeka Store, Estate Brahms, Vryguns Road, Windmeul or online at www. oldjwauctioneers.com.
The auction house will be taking items on consignment for forthcoming sales, including antiques, jewellery, fine art, silver, gold, rare coins, porcelain, carpets, wine, vintage toys, carpets and vintage cars and motorbikes.
