LEARNING in your mother tongue makes it easier to understand learning concepts, according to online learning platform Diji’s market research. It showed that 94.5% of people surveyed want to lean in their own languages. Diji is designed to help people learn in their languages, in their time and on their cellphones. Diji’s research indicated that people wanted to learn business and social media courses in their mother tongue. This also included short courses on how to prepare for the job market and digital and financial literacy. Only 0.5% of Africans spoke English as their mother tongue. | IOL

UNITED Independent Movement (UIM) leader Neil de Beer launched his party’s poster campaign in Cape Town this week. De Beer, a former national security advisor to Nelson Mandela and Umkhonto we Sizwe intelligence agent, was an ANC member for 30 years before resigning last year. He is standing as a mayoral candidate for the City Of Cape Town. Key targets for the UIM include fighting crime and corruption. “We have two cities in this Cape Town, the rich and the poor.
