Twitter has reacted to the alleged assault of 30-year-old Nhlakanipho Gumede by security guards at Capitec bank in Tongaat. Gumede died of his injuries. A security guard has since been arrested and appeared in court.
@Ngewya1
This is very sad. Another Black life lost unnecessarily. Black people must unite to grow in Mzansi. @maphithaPb
It’s easy for them to throw the security man under the bus because it’s not their employee. This is why most banks/business don’t want to hire security but outsource, the same company will give them another security guy, they move on.
@BMathenjwa
@CapitecBankSA, this is very disturbing. I’m a Capitec client and I’m thinking of removing all my money. We can’t be killed for our money that we work very hard for. RIP Mnguni phakathwayo
@afiba_m
Not @CapitecBankSA staff killing an innocent man for making an inquiry after he deposited R1000 but only R500 went through. He spoke to the manager about the incident. Instead of helping him they called the security who came with a guard baton and hit him in the head.
@Khathaz76678746
When will the manager be arrested? When are you going to take responsibility for what happened Capitec?
@its_miss_giggle
This is so sad but sadly this is normal procedure @CapitecBankSA, they rob clients and treat them like rubbish. Trust me I know better as they slandered me with internet phishing clients. I asked them to pull video footage from the withdrawals they refused as it’s an inside job.
@mondlimzet
You have the security personnel arrested but you keep your manager safe. Really?! Just because you know the security cannot afford a lawyer. Its going to seem as if he just jumped and acted alone on this. You must fire and arrest that manager and compensate the family.
Hi @CapitecBankSA. Are we not safe in your establishments? A life was taken for what good reason.
Sue Capitec for the death of Nhlakanipho Gumede!
@mafoso_m
@CapitecBankSA why only the security guard? What about the branch manager? They’re also suspects since they are the ones giving out orders. You all are quick to throw level 1 workers under the bus but too hesitant when it comes to top management. Be fair!
