Long overdue. Enough with unnecessary pressure on poor kids who get inferior education. It was good for kids from well-functioning schools and backgrounds. And a few who manage to make it from inferior education.

This system has really cost so many young ones their lives. People committing suicide, because their names were not in the paper. I do not understand why this was not abolished long ago. @deon vermeulen

Are we surprised? I would also rather not highlight the failures of my department if I was the “Honourable” Minister of Education.

@Vhakoma_SA

Another reason the matric results are going to continue to go down. The newspaper served as some sort of motivation. Nobody wants to gets F and G in a newspaper, which is seen by everybody.

Rubbish! Keep running away with your psychological reasoning. Failing is not a tragedy, stop this pampering of learners.

@angie43639902

Using learners’ pictures without parents’ consent should also be probed, unless the face is hidden. Human rights in motion. @nzima_vusi

Do you think with this done, they would not commit suicide anymore?

Department of Education announcing that they will no longer publish matric results in newspapers and online platforms is great news! Sure, it is mostly thanks to Popia, but what a win for the mental health of kids on results day. @Ori_Debig_Beats

Matric results will no longer be published on newspapers? Surely, things are changing. That vibe was unmatched!

@Teevee81

Newspapers will be dealt a big blow by the decision of the department not to publish matric results on any public platform. We know when matric results come out newspaper sales increase on that particular day.
