NEW CRIMES TO BE DEFINED

-

HONG Kong would create a host of new national security crimes, city leader Carrie Lam said yesterday as she presided over the first session of a new “patriots only” legislature. The legislation will add to a national security law imposed on Hong Kong by Beijing that has empowered authorities to crack down on dissent. The current national security law defines four crimes – secession, subversion, terrorism and colluding with foreign forces – and offenders can face life in jail. Lam did not say what the new crimes would be. |
