The ANC eThekwini region leadership has taken issue with Eskom’s board member, Busisiwe Mavuso, calling Zandile Gumede a “thief”. The region said Gumede has not been found guilty of any charge. Twitter reacted:

You can call Mavuso what you want but when the court gives the verdict, then I hope you will remember the truth she spoke. Money went missing and was mismanaged, the ordinary people suffer the most. Call a spade and spade.

@mpho3435

She is entitled to her personal opinion.

@errolbsk

Mavuso is not a court, so she doesn’t need to subscribe to any due process. @siphzulu

She must just join politics, clearly that’s where her passion lies. She is failing there by Eskom.

@ndlazit

That’s a tired narrative. We must not embrace unethical leaders otherwise they will collapse the country on us. This is why we have Zimbabweans here, they embraced dishonest leaders instead of calling them out. @lefamorobe

Who cares what the ANC thinks?

@GailAllan15

If Gumede has an issue with the statement made by Mavuso, she can sue. It’s a personal matter.

@Melatolp

That’s her opinion because people at branch level just vote according to preferred slates without looking at the moral values of an individual. How can sober minded people vote for someone who is facing serious allegations of corruption involving their taxes. @neiljohnsonza

The ANC in KZN is not dead. It just smells that way.

@lsgmst

I have no doubt Mavuso also has an SMS that contains the verdict. Fikile Mbalula also knew that

Zuma will be tried in phases. These are no coincidences. Mavuso’s arrogance speaks volumes, she knows something we don’t.
