EFF leader Julius Malema made clear his party’s intention to create its own labour union when he addressed a May Day rally in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on Sunday.

An EFF union is inevitable, Malema said, adding that the party’s “extremely busy” labour desk was a great grounding in preparation for such a union. “That union will never sell out.

That union will always be on the side of the workers. We are preparing to do a union, and not a Mickey Mouse union, who is in cahoots and in bed with the employer.” | IOL

MINISTER of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has denied the department works with Operation Dudula, saying the department’s own inspectorate deals with the issue of illegal foreign nationals.

He was replying in Parliament to a question by IFP MP Liezl van der Merwe, who asked him whether his department worked with Operation Dudula. “The activities of Operation Dudula of … forcefully removing alleged illegal foreign nationals… is not a programme of the department,” he said.
