Afro-fusion artist Butholezwe dedicates single to sister

- ANITA NKONKI

LOCAL rising star Butholezwe Ntini has come back with another candid and heartfelt song that delves deeply into his life experience, giving listeners a full picture of how his life was while he was on a quest to find his sister.

Sithembile is a song named after the star’s sister, who he had wanted to be reunited with for a long time. The song explores the challenge he underwent without her, until they were rejoined in 2021.

This soulful single featuring Beyond Vocal is a leading track on Ntini’s upcoming EP.

The Afro-fusion musician said he found it essential to write this song because of the profound meaning behind it.

“Sithembile is more of a story behind an answered prayer; I had always wished to meet my baby sister and when I met her in 2021 I was inspired to write a song expressing how hard life was without her in my life.

“It is of great importance because it speaks about my life before meeting my sister and I get to speak to my late mom and sister on thanksgiving, for leaving me with the gift that is Sithembile.”

The 28-year-old made a choice years ago between music and school. And because of his deep-rooted love for music he undoubtedly chose music and has since never looked back.

This new single Sithembile comes after the success of his EP which was launched in 2019. Ntini has always made sure his music is relatable to many people.

“I launched my debut EP in 2019

(Thando Lwentombi Emnyama); it speaks more about the love of an African woman, the highs and lows of it; it basically embraces the African woman, people can get one of the singles on YouTube (Uzungibambe).”

Asked about his hopes for the future, he said he wants to have many awards under his belt and work with a variety of popular music artists.

“I hope to make it in the music industry and win a lot of awards and mostly make money out of it. I wish to work with a lot of artists in SA like Sjava, Mlindo, Zahara, Afrotraction, Big Zulu, Aubrey Qwana, and many more.”

The star concluded that people should put in the work if they want to flourish in the entertainment industry.
