DA leader John Steenhuise­n, who recently returned from his six-day Ukraine visit, has pledged South Africa’s support for that country and vowed that he would not stop putting pressure on the South African government to change its stance on its conflict with Russia.

Steenhuise­n said his reasons for his Ukraine visit were two-fold. He wanted to see for himself what was happening there and hear the accounts first-hand from the people and he wanted to represent South Africa to the people of Ukraine, “because no one else is doing this”. | IOL

NEWLY elected ANC provincial chairperso­n in Mpumalanga Mandla Ndlovu has been appointed MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditiona­l Affairs in the province.

Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane announced the cabinet changes yesterday where she also moved Busi Shiba to the agricultur­e portfolio.

Shiba takes over the department after former MEC Mandla Msibi was fired from the position. Msibi was elected ANC provincial treasurer in Mpumalanga.
