This vibrant restaurant pairs the robust flavours of the African east coast spice route with succulent cuts of meat, chicken and fish creating the essence of eating good or in Swahili slang.

One of two Grill Jichanas in South Africa, the restaurant has developed a well-earned reputation for its signature dishes, which combine a unique blend of spices to flavour the meat and specially “bafana” potatoes, that are twice cooked into the perfect chip.

The food is tastefully complement­ed by Southern Sun’s Collectors Wines, expertly selected from the restaurant’s centrepiec­e wine cellar and paired by renowned host and sommelier, Oscar Moyo.

Oscar’s impressive resume boasts more than 22 years in the industry, including a qualificat­ion from the Cape Wine Academy.

Three of The Grill Jichana’s most popular signature dishes are the famous fillet with de Paris butter; roast confit duck leg and grilled breast with wok fried vegetables, egg noodles and cinnamon scented citrus jus, along with its signature spice; and a vegetarian delight: the haloumi stack with aubergine, black mushroom, red pepper, baby marrow ribbons, garlic buttered grilled polenta, savoury red lentils, saffron velouté and rocket pesto.
