Team Tropical scoop the Tropika Island treasure
AFTER 12 weeks of adventure, Tropika Island of Treasure has crowned Team Tropical, All-Star Karlien van Jaarsveld and her partner model Ruan Scheepers, as season 10 champions.
The duo faced-off with Team Piña Colada, All-Star Jonathan Boynton-Lee and his partner fitness coach Lelani Loots and Team Mango Peach, which included All-Star Brendan Peyper and his partner TV presenter Boitumelo “Melo” Moloto.
Viewers were taken on a 12-week adventure full of interesting twists and turns as 18 consumer contestants and eight celebrity All-Stars first battled it out in St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, for a coveted spot to compete in the Seychelles for their share of the R1 million grand prize.
The last six contestants have survived a demanding physical challenge tackling the mountainous terrain and seas of the Seychelles, and the victorious duo came out on top after a glorious win in a puzzle challenge that officially cast them in stone as the Tropika Island of Treasure champions.
“Tropika Island of Treasure has pushed boundaries year-on-year to provide entertainment to fans across the country, and the All-Star season has surpassed expectations to be the best season yet,” said Miantha Roux, Clover Beverages business unit head.
“From the beginning of auditioning … to watching them compete in St Lucia and the Seychelles, to this moment of crowning the winners, the journey has been exceptional. With this All-Star season, the Tropika brand has shown that it has a special place in the hearts of South Africans,” said Barbara George, Clover Beverages brand group manager.
Runners-up Team Piña Colada did not leave empty-handed. They received R25 000 each from the premium online entertainment platform.
As an added bonus, throughout the airing of the season, Tropika Island of Treasure has come out on top as one of the most-rated reality competition shows on SABC 3.
While the show may be over, Tropika Island of Treasure has fully personified bringing island fever to South Africa through their partnership with Island Tribe sun protection and by introducing a first smooth collaboration with Mr Price Home.
