Bail for taxi driver who hit pedestrians
A TAXI driver who lost control of his vehicle and ploughed into pedestrians has been granted bail of R500.
Ephraim Nyathi, 45, faced a charge of reckless and negligent driving at the magistrate’s court this week.
The incident took place at about 5pm on Friday at the corner of Watt and Third avenues in Alexandra.
Eleven pedestrians walking along the pavement were injured, four seriously. They were taken to hospital.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the metro police would approach the court to get the man’s driving licence suspended.
Nyathi will appear in court again on February 3.
