Fleeing teen dies in attack

KANO: Gunmen have attacked a police station in northern Nigeria’s Jigawa state, killing a fleeing teenage girl and wounding an officer in the shootout that ensued. It was the first such incident since the weekend’s state of emergency decree. Jigawa state police said the men threw an explosive into the police station but it did not detonate, which saved the police station from being destroyed.
