NOW BRIAN Molefe holds a high rank in the SANDF. He has never served a day in the defence force.

The ANC is flaunting its power to give friends highly paid jobs.

First Molefe was at Eskom and did such a bad job that he had to resign. Now Eskom wants to increase our electricity by 20% due to bad management. Then Molefe was made an MP. He knew nothing about the running of Parliament. That did not last long. President Jacob Zuma gave him a position that never existed. Seems something is smelling in Denmark.

Zuma, it’s time to let him go before you land up like former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. Remember you can fool all the people some of the time, but you cannot fool them all of the time. Gina Bergman De Wetshof

IT WAS just not human rights groups that were let down when South Africa and Brics leaders skirted around the genocide of the Rohingya Muslims.

The policy of noninterference is an excuse for not helping. In this day and age, you cannot avoid interference in the matters of other countries.

The oppression of the Rohingya has compelled tens of thousands of them to embark on dangerous journeys in search of better lives. Such journeys are enabled by trafficking rings thus feeding into vicious cycles of crime and exploitation spread across countries.

There are ethical and humanitarian reasons for addressing conflict in the Rakhine. The ethical considerations also pose questions for the kind of community Brics wants to be – whether a tolerant and inclusive one, or one that is complicit in excluding and oppressing minorities. There is a Rohingya in all of us. Riyaad Dhai Westville, Durban

BRIAN MOLEFE’S appointment is bemusing as we are not sure if he is to be in charge of procurement as he has great experience, or if he is there to help the Guptas take over the army or, more likely, if he is there to keep a watchful eye on our generals to avoid a Zimbabwe situation.
