Dolly staying in France despite difficulties

- MINENHLE MKHIZE

BAFANA Bafana star winger Keagan Dolly has found life difficult in France with his club Montpellier.

Dolly (24) left Mamelodi Sundowns last year in January and joined the Ligue 1 side and the leftfooter has struggled for game time this season. His agent though, Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Agency, has made it clear that Dolly has no intention of going on loan.

“Dolly is injured. He has a groin injury and that’s why he missed out this past weekend. He will be out for 10 days. Yes, it has been difficult for him but we are not thinking about moving him in this upcoming transfer window. These things happen in football and doesn’t mean that when they happen then you must move the player. You can’t just leave because you are not getting game time,” Mitchell said.

Montpellier are well placed in Ligue 1. They occupy eight spot on the log with 20 points after 14 matches and trail PSG by 18 points.

“This is just his second season. He still trying to find his feet and the team is also doing well. If options do come, we will have a look at them but we are not thinking about moving Keagan at this stage. He is still happy at Montpellier,” Mitchell explained.

Dolly had to fight his way out of Sundowns due to a contractual dispute. Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has persisted with Dolly despite his lack of game time over the last couple of months.

Baxter is currently in France meeting different clubs where South Africans play to build good relationships. Orther SA players who are in France are Bongani Zungu, Kermit Erasmus and Lebogang Mothiba.
