MAKING waves in the South African music industry and breaking boundaries one song at a time – that’s producer and recording artist Kiddominant.

If you’ve heard the popular lyrics, Jiggy jiggy heavy heavy

all the girls love me, then you know these are the lyrics sung by Ayoola Oladapo Agboola, popularly known as Kiddominant, on the collaboration Fela

in Versace with the hip-hop megastar AKA.

After years of silently delivering chart-topping Nigerian hit songs such as Fall by Davido and Rihanna by Orezi, Kiddominant plans to put his voice and name in the front and centre of Africa.

The hitmaker is making sure that his South African fans get to see him as more than just a producer but as an all-round musician.

“I am totally not a typical hip hop artist. People don’t realise that Jiggy jiggy heavy

heavy is just a vibe,” he said. “I am not just a hip hopper; I don’t like that people just see me as just this category of hip hop. Tomorrow I could wake up and make a gqom song. When it comes to making music I don’t like anything the same,” he said.

Kiddominant is the first Nigerian producer to go platinum in South Africa for his work on Davido’s hit song Fall, awarded by Sony Music.

“People make records that are good, but to make some records that break boundaries, that is God’s gift,” he said.

He shuffles between Atlanta, Cape Town and Lagos, but this week he will be preparing to feature in a video debut with AKA and then an exclusive media tour.

Kiddominant’s love for music started through his love of visual art and painting.

The 26-year-old said his inspiration to write, sing and produce was a God-given talent and he was grateful for his musical journey.

“I can tell you that being part of Fela in Versace was God’s gift. I am used to this kind of environment, and for the song to be making waves in South Africa is amazing,” he said.

The US-based Nigerian musician released a single

Alright featuring Wizkid, and has plans to collaborate with more African artists such as Cassper, Nasty C and LaSauce.

The record label owner of Swizz Music Company said being the number one producer in Nigeria for the Headies 2018 was always a dream, and being the first Nigerian producer to receive a platinum in South Africa was the icing on top.

“Since the day I put my eyes on a keyboard, I wanted to do this,” he said. “My dream was to be number one. Apart from that I just got a platinum board of being the first Nigerian producer in South Africa. And that’s God’s work,” he said.

The young producer’s 10 years in music production has taught him the good, the bad and the ugly of the industry and he said he was tired of hiding behind just being a producer.

“I have the gift. I know I can rap and sing, so I asked myself why am I just sticking to making beats? Which is one of the things that sparked that I go back to this song thing,” he laughed.

He is mostly known for being the magic behind Davido’s platinum-selling single Fall, Mama by Mayorkun,

Story by Popcaan featuring Davido, and Marry by Dj Neptune featuring Mr Eazi.
