Give your Jimny a boot

- MOTORING STAFF

ONE OF our key gripes with new Suzuki Jimny, as capable as it is as an adventure vehicle, is that its boot is hardly accommodating.

If you like to travel with loads of outdoor gear, the Jimny can present challenges due to its diminutive cargo area, but fortunately, just in time for the new year, Thule has announced storage and hauling solutions for owners of the new Suzuki Jimny.

The company’s representatives say the Jimny has successfully captured the imagination of local adventurers and the result is that demand exceeds supply at dealerships.

“Its combination of real off-road capability due to its its low-range transfer case, ladder frame chassis and live rear axle separate it from soft-roaders out there. Attractive pricing, and visual appeal have prospective owners queuing. Waiting list aside, though, if it has a shortcoming then it is a luggage volume issue, which gives new meaning to travelling light,” Thule spokesmen add.

But, you don’t need to travel light in your new Jimny, as there are now various roof rack solutions available for your vehicle.

“We chose to fit our photo car with the tried-and-tested Thule square bar – an appropriate choice considering the retro-styling of the Suzuki Jimny. With these rugged cross bars in place, the sky is the limit for those who want to – as per Thule’s pay-off line – bring their life,” spokesmen add.

The Canyon roof basket is a more rugged option for adventurers, and the hard-wearing Thule Chasm bags are said to be suited to being left out in the open.

Alternatively, an enclosed, lockable luggage box can be used, bringing with it security, refinement and aerodynamic benefits.

Richard Downey of local Thule agent, SA Sport and Cargo says:

“We pride ourselves on being able to meet the needs of vehicle owners, irrespective of their lifestyle activity or vehicle type. Being able to react quickly to new vehicle introductions is a strategic goal of ours. A new-car buyer can invariably drive straight from the showroom to a Thule Concept Store and have their new purchase upgraded with the world’s leading transportation solutions.”

Visit your local Thule stockist for pricing and installation options if you’d like to kit out your new Jimny.
