NEW APPOINTMENT
THE CITY of Joburg has announced the appointment of Manenzhe Manenzhe as its new financial officer.
He joins the city from Parliament, bringing a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors, most notably from his senior positions at the South African Revenue Service and the National Electricity Regulator of South Africa, said Funzela Ngobeni, the mayco member for finance.
“Manenzhe’s extensive financial experience, strong leadership and commitment to ethical standards make him the ideal choice to implement the city’s financial strategy.
“In addition, he will be responsible for the city’s day-to-day financial operations, co-ordinating the actions of the accounting and finance departments, and ensuring that we meet our fiscal responsibilities,” Ngobeni said.
Manenzhe is a qualified accountant and holds a BCom from the University of Venda. He also has qualifications in advanced principles and applications of South African taxation from the University of Johannesburg, investment appraisal and risk analysis from Cambridge Resources International, as well as a qualification in practical leadership in a political environment from the University of Florida.
“We have promised to professionalise this government, and the appointment of Manenzhe demonstrates our commitment to changing the face of the civil service to meet the needs of our people,” Ngobeni said.
