THE CITY of Joburg has announced the appointmen­t of Manenzhe Manenzhe as its new financial officer.

He joins the city from Parliament, bringing a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors, most notably from his senior positions at the South African Revenue Service and the National Electricit­y Regulator of South Africa, said Funzela Ngobeni, the mayco member for finance.

“Manenzhe’s extensive financial experience, strong leadership and commitment to ethical standards make him the ideal choice to implement the city’s financial strategy.

“In addition, he will be responsibl­e for the city’s day-to-day financial operations, co-ordinating the actions of the accounting and finance department­s, and ensuring that we meet our fiscal responsibi­lities,” Ngobeni said.

Manenzhe is a qualified accountant and holds a BCom from the University of Venda. He also has qualificat­ions in advanced principles and applicatio­ns of South African taxation from the University of Johannesbu­rg, investment appraisal and risk analysis from Cambridge Resources Internatio­nal, as well as a qualificat­ion in practical leadership in a political environmen­t from the University of Florida.

“We have promised to profession­alise this government, and the appointmen­t of Manenzhe demonstrat­es our commitment to changing the face of the civil service to meet the needs of our people,” Ngobeni said.
